Rider profiles-Mark Urquhart
My sporting adventures started with kayaking (flat water sprint/marathon), where I had the opportunity to travel throughout the country, racing nationals and state titles and peaked in 1990 racing at the World Marathon Champs. I competed in 5 Murray River Marathons, with the last one being the end of my paddling career, where I suffered a severe sciatica injury, which prevented me from paddling for close to 2 years.
I started running as part of my rehab, which soon led to triathlon and the purchase of my first bike in 2001 (Merida 905). Since then I have developed a great relationship with the guys at G&D, as they have fitted me out with my race bike, MTB bike, my wife's (Kayleen) bikes (1 x road, 1 x tri, 1 x mtb). They have provided endless support and knowledge in lead up to the couple of Ironmans I have done, and they are now on board supporting the Western Suburbs Triathlon Club.
