2008 Tour de France

Stage 7 Brioude to Aurillac

This year's Tour De France promises to be an intersting race. With no time bonuses keeping the field together, it's going to be harder to get away and even more important to remain consistent in your place at the pointy end of the race. Late nights will haunt us all until the 28th of July. Hopefully I can keep my eyes open and my sanity in one piece as I attempt to cover this event, sleep deprived hallucinations included.

I'm not sure why the peloton is allowing breakaways, especially when it seems so hard to make up time. I thought it was strange that Cadel didn't make a move for the yellow jersey and the win last night but I suppose he's only 6 seconds off the overall lead so there's method in the madness, especially with the next week's mountain stages coming up.

Tonight's stage is from Brioude to Aurillac. At 152 K's with 4 catagory climbs spread throughout the stage Will Silvain Chavanelle be able to keep hold of his newly aquired King of the Mountain jersey? Can Kim Kerchen maintain his hold on the yellow jersey?
